This technology is a functionalized graphene oxide nanoparticle platform designed to deliver protein antigens efficiently to the immune system, particularly through intranasal administration. When administered intranasally, antigen-loaded nanoparticles stimulate both mucosal and systemic immunity, closely mimicking natural infection while maintaining a strong safety profile.
Respiratory diseases like influenza and emerging viral infections remain a major global health challenge, causing millions of infections and significant mortality each year. There is a clear need for a new generation of virus-independent, safe, and efficient intranasal vaccines that can induce broad cross-protection against respiratory diseases like influenza. Our nanoparticle platform is intended to address these needs by providing a self-adjuvanted system with high antigen-loading capacity that can be prepared through a simple mixing approach.
